enlightened darkness prevails
kings trading laurels for thorns and nails

in this intrepid kingdom of ash
smoldering stories of yesterday's glories
and flickering phantoms pervade
just shadows enrobed for the masquerade where we dance

dance to the rhythm of this sacked religion
where steeples and spires are measured in pyres
we bask in this season of undying treason
as futile feudality swallows morality

bleed for thy lord death shall reward
feel the burden of flesh melt away
lifeless vassals feeding castles
brick by brick, we rebuild this grand pyramid

but beneath the disdain
lies your temple in flames
a return to the dark from whence we came

in miasmic despair
breathe in the cold nightmare
and rot in this cage of molded flesh and violence

resounding silence washes over the unclean
